Contact SCSL Officers →Since 1963, the SCSL has been the heartbeat of slow pitch softball in Fall River. Founded by Jack Hackett and kept alive by a community of players, managers, umpires, and volunteers — wooden bats, chalk lines, and all.
The SCSL uses wooden bats by design. More competitive. More honest. The field at Fr. Kelly Park — now officially named the Jack Hackett Softball Field — has seen thousands of games, hundreds of Hall of Famers, and six decades of community bonds built between the chalk lines.
Nearly five decades of inductees. Names marked with ** have passed away. Their legacy lives on at Fr. Kelly Park.
The MIB (Men In Blue) Association services the SCSL, plus leagues in Tiverton, Attleboro, Dighton Rehoboth, and Raynham.
Losing is part of the game. How you lose says more about your team than how you win. The SCSL has always been about community first, competition second.
Arguing with umpires, berating teammates, or making excuses doesn't change the scoreboard. It only changes how people remember you.
"Victory is not final. Defeat is not fatal. It is only a game — enjoy playing it."
SCSL Family Members We Will Never Forget
Jack gave unselfishly from his heart, his talent, his time, and his love of the game. He ran this league for over 50 years. He got me involved in the mid-80s and we did everything together — working the field, emptying barrels, cleaning the mats, putting up signage, keeping the standings board, the dugout boards, the chalk lines.
He took immense pride in making sure His Field at Fr. Kelly Park was always in game-ready condition. His greatest accomplishment was a four-year endeavor — he applied for and was awarded a $140,000 grant for new solar-powered metal light poles and a new electric scoreboard. Both were completed for the 2025 season.
So when you come to His Field to play a game or to watch one, look up at the lights and scoreboard and say: “Thank you, Jack, for all you have done for this Field, the League, and the game of Softball.”
R.I.P. You will be greatly missed. 1–4–3.

Player Code of Conduct · 2026 Season
1. Respect for All
Every player, manager, umpire, and spectator deserves dignity and respect. Harassment, discrimination, or intimidation of any kind will not be tolerated.
2. Sportsmanship
Win with grace, lose with class. Arguing with umpires or taunting opponents may result in ejection and suspension. The umpire's decision is final on the field.
3. Safety First
No reckless play that endangers others. Any player involved in a physical altercation is immediately ejected and subject to season suspension.
4. Alcohol & Substances
No alcohol or illegal substances on the field or in the dugout. Players who appear intoxicated will not be permitted to play.
5. Equipment
Only wooden bats approved by SCSL are permitted in the Night League. Using an illegal bat results in an automatic out and possible ejection.
6. Eligibility
Players must be registered with SCSL before participating. Playing under a false name results in forfeit of all games and suspension.
7. Field Care
Fr. Kelly Park is our home. Every player keeps the field, dugouts, and surrounding areas clean.
8. Commitment
Notify your manager in advance if you cannot attend a scheduled game. Repeated no-shows may result in removal from the roster.
9. The Dugout Chat
Keep chat respectful. Trash talk between teams is fine — personal attacks, abuse, and hate speech are grounds for immediate suspension from the league and the chat.
10. Jack Hackett Legacy
This league was built on community, friendship, and love of the game. Honor 63 years of Jack Hackett's work by playing hard, playing fair, and looking out for each other.
Violations are reviewed by SCSL Officers. Decisions are final. The league reserves the right to suspend or remove any player who violates these standards.
